Geopark Ambassador serves as a dedicated advocate and representative for a Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark. This role bridges the gap between the geopark's management, local communities, and broader audiences, fostering awareness, education, and collaboration. Geopark Ambassadors play a vital role in promoting the geopark's values and engaging various stakeholders in its vision for sustainable development.
Roles and Responsibilities of a Geopark Ambassador

Advocacy and Awareness
- Actively promote the geopark’s vision, mission, and initiatives at local, national, and international levels.
- Raise public awareness of the significance of Langkawi Geopark’s natural, geological, and cultural heritage.

Education and Outreach
- Lead educational programs, workshops, and campaigns targeting schools, universities, and community groups.
- Share knowledge of the geopark’s unique features, including its geological heritage, biodiversity, and cultural stories.

Community Engagement
- Work closely with local communities to foster a sense of pride and ownership of the geopark.
- Support local initiatives such as sustainable tourism, handicraft production, and cultural preservation.
Geopark Ambassadors

As the Manager of Kilim Jetty, he oversees sustainable operations and promotes geotourism activities at the Kilim Geosite.
Omar bin Ariffin
A Community Leader in Kilim, he advocates for local
engagement and supports geotourism development.
Rusasmizal bin Mohd Ghazali
Leading the community at Kubang Badak, he facilitates community-based geotourism initiatives.
Sabri bin Musa
A Community Leader in Kubang Badak, he ensures sustainable tourism practices and local participation.
Indara Rahayu binti Mohd Noor
A Tour Guide at Kubang Badak, she educates
visitors on the site’s natural and cultural heritage.
Othman Bin Ayeb
As a Tour Guide in Kubang Badak, he highlights the ecological and geological features to visitors.
Prof. Anthony Wong Kim Hooi
