LANGKAWI RESEARCH CENTRE
Langkawi Research Centre (PPL) was established in 2007 as are search initiative under then Institute for Environment and Development (LESTARI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), to achieve the following : 1. A centre of excellence in research on natural resources and utilization for effective ecotourism development . 2. A focused research centre that highlights policy studies to support ecotourism. 3. A research coordinator related to natural resources and sustainable development of Langkawi Geopark . This research centre currently located at the Teluk Yu (from Sunday to Friday) provides facilities and services to geopark through integrated geo-biosocial gallery, research on geology and landscape, biology and marine, socio-economy and local history and environmental health, conducted seminar, environmental and awareness programme, consultation, given training on geopark and organized series of scientific expendition. Most of the research work have been published in various publication and some are updates through website.
