Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark Discovery Centre (GDC)
This centre officially opened to public in January 2020.
The GDC will let you delve deep into its half-billion years old past, offering an educational and entertaining collection of exhibitions, displays, photography, digital and interactive media and more. Conveniently located at our conservation area, Kilim Karst Geoforest Park, this centre consist of 8 zones.

Introduction and Socioculture
Take a geological and historical exploration of Langkawi and witness its natural and beauty through a series of 3D animations showcasing the island’s formation and development through era, epoch and age!
MYTHS AND LEGENDS
Langkawi is a land full of myths and legends. Langkawi Island’s tales have become part of the Langkawi mystique. Join this amazing journey by knowing the heroin Langkawi, Mahsuri and the other famous tales.
MANGROVE FOREST
Over 70% of world’s true mangrove species are present in Langkawi. Langkawi’s mangrove forests are one of the park’s “Jewels in the crown”. Learn more about endemic species that it can’t be seen anywhere except on this island!

In addition to Geopark Centres, Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark features info-kiosks and info centres strategically located to provide visitors with essential information and resources for exploring the island’s unique heritage. These facilities serve as convenient touchpoints for tourists and locals alike, enhancing accessibility and engagement.
Info Centre at LADA Office
Location:
Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) Office.
Purpose:
- Acts as a central hub for geopark information and visitor services.
- Provide brochures, maps, and multimedia presentations on Langkawi Geopark’s key attractions.
Info Centre at Oriental Village
Location:
Oriental Village, a popular tourist spot near the Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest Park.
Purpose:
- Serves as an information point for visitors exploring Machinchang Range and nearby attractions like the SkyCab and SkyBridge.
- Promotes awareness of Langkawi’s geological heritage and eco-tourism opportunities.
