He is name after trilobites, the ancient fossilized arthropods and among the earliest marine species, thriving in Earth’s oceans for nearly 300 million years before their extinction. These remarkable organisms flourished during the Paleozoic Era, particularly in the Cambrian Period—often referred to as the “Trilobite Age”—dating back over 541 to 485 million years.

Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark joins the global celebration of World Water Day 2025, emphasizing the importance of water conservation, sustainable management, and its vital role in both nature and communities. 

World Water Day, celebrated on 22 March every year since 1993, focuses on the importance of freshwater. A core focus of World Water Day is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030. The theme of World Water Day 2025 is ‘Glacier Preservation’.

As a UNESCO Global Geopark, preserving water ecosystems is a core mission. Through various conservation efforts, Langkawi aims to ensure sustainable water management, including:
